They have tasting notes of cherry and have been described as tasting like molasses strawberry jam. The fruit are resistant to splitting and the flavour intensifies if left to shrivel slightly on the tree. The figs are medium sized and have dark purplish red flesh. Violette de Bordeaux is a breba harvest (fruit developing on the old wood in Spring after the fig leaves emerge). They were
