In 1967, the became the minor league affiliate of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. In 1971, the Flyers decided to move the team to Richmond, VA and rename it the Robins. This paved, however, paved the way for the major league hockey to come to Quebec City in the form of Nordiques of the World Hockey Association who began play in 1972.
